5 of Spades

There does come a time where we are met with options, both of which may result in less than favourable outcomes.  On one hand we may have to consider our own safety or our own goals, whereas on the other hand we may have to put someone else’s needs before our own.  Those are real dilemmas indeed, and will put to shame those occasions where we oscillated between choosing a pair of shoes for an evening out, or what to eat from an elaborate menu.  If either outcome is likely to haunt us for a very long time to come we know we are at a defining crossroad in our life.

I have heard the saying many times “is it better to be a living coward or a dead hero?”  Yet when we are faced with that situation for real, we may lose the power of rational thought.  There is something in the favour of the character in the foreground.  He has 3 swords at his disposal, whereas the menacing figures only have one apiece.  If he is able to catch them unaware and arm the central figure they may just have the upper hand.  If he loses that element of surprise all could be lost.  So, dear traveller, what would you do? Difficult one to consider isn’t it….
